SUMMARY

Sprays surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Cleans grease and dirt from product.

 

Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated in manual spray areas.  Verify that areas requiring "no paint" have been protected properly prior to painting.

 

Selects appropriate coating (liquid or powder) to produce desired color.

 

Pours appropriate coating into spray container and connects gun to air hose or into powder unit.

 

Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.

 

Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.

 

Cleans liquid spray equipment with appropriate solvent.  Use air to clean powder equipment.

 

Removes rust from metal using wire brush or steel wool.

 

Report to assigned facility for a minimum of five days, 40 hours, per week willing and able to perform required functions.

 

Meet production standard established for area with minimal errors.

 

Promote employee safety and adhere to all established guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified through training provided by Superior Consolidated Industries, Inc.
